Food&Wine Christmas is out on your magazine racks now. Its full of lovely food ideas as always, but I had to draw your attention to the Two Beautiful ladies that will enrich our season. Catherine Fulvio's first christmas has some simple but delicious ideas for an easer christmas feast. Louise lennox bakes 1950's style cakes that had us all in the studio standing with our plates and forks on the ready when the images were processing. There are also great ideas from Donal Skehan for home made gifts, defo making the staind glass window cookies. Get out there, grab a copy, and tell me what you think. Harry.

Im just back from photographing Senator Norris conducting an interview in town.
It is always a pleasure to work with him as he has a knack in making my job so easy that it feels like im not working, but spending time with a friend.
Here are three of the images I captured on camera, that I believe, captures the Man himself.

Life in the studio is not always about nice chefs making me food and after its shot, we devour. Sometimes its the non eatable that I photograph, as in above. Here are two images I shot recently for a shipping company, the clue of who they are is in the pictures. We spent the afternoon running around Dublin docklands. Up and down cranes and a quick trip to Bull Island to capture a ship as it sped past. And I mean sped!

I never stop been amazed how privilaged I am, to get to do the things I do. Very few people are allowed to climb to the top of a crane, unloading containers and over look the city of Dublin been bathed in sunshine. While I was been blown around by gail force wind. I love what I do and its also my job.

As you may notice these images may not seem like they were shot on a afternoon in May. To create a dramatic image we turned the scene to night and sunset. Rebuilding the image to create an almost filmatic aproach, Batman meets 300, and was great fun to do. These are only two from the collection we did, the rest can be found in a brochure soon. . H.

Hi all, Ive been a bad blogger these days but I intend to improve and give you all nice new things to look at.

I was shooting bread last week for the bakery in Super Valu and here is two of the pictures from the shoot. Soda bread is a little lost in our modern world. It reminds us of days long gone and my Mother baking in the old Stanley range. The smell of fresh soda bread wafting through the kitchen and into the whole house. We would be sitting there by the white formica table waiting on it to cool so Mum could cut me a piece. Lashings of real butter spread on a thick warm slice. We had to eat fast or the butter would melt and run off and onto us. When cold we added Damson or Blackberry& Apple jam, home made of course, in layers nearly as thick as the bread itself, if no one was looking. So last week when the studio filled with the lovely soda/buttermilky smell, I was 7 again (not saying how many years ago that was), Grabbing a knife and a "pound" of Kerrygold. The bread was still warm from the bakery ovens, and it was good. Harry.

Here is one of the lovely dishes I shot for Super Valu with Kevin Dundon a few weeks ago. Meatballs are a lovely dish but usually smothered in tomato sauce. These spicey mini balls are chilled with the cooling cucumber relish. Its one of my fav dishes Ive shot in a while.

Enjoy.H.

Mini Meatballs with Yogurt and Cucumber Relish

Ingredients

1lb 4oz/550g SuperValu Quality Irish Round Steak Mince
SuperValu Spice Mix Pack 1pce
1/2 SuperValu Onion – diced
1/2 Red Chilli – diced
1 tsp Root Ginger – diced finely
2 cloves Garlic – crushed
1 tbsp SuperValu Fresh Coriander – chopped
Yoghurt & Cucumber Relish
1 SuperValu Cucumber – cut into long strips
2 tbsp SuperValu Natural Probiotic Yogurt
1 tsp SuperValu Fresh Coriander – chopped
2 cloves SuperValu Garlic – crushed
10oz/300g SuperValu Easy Cook Long Grain Rice

From the Store Cupboard
1/2 tsp SuperValu Cooks Ingredients Dried Mixed Herbs
2oz/50g Fresh White Breadcrumbs
SuperValu Flour
1 SuperValu Egg
1/2 tsp Chilli Powder
1oz/25g SuperValu Butter
SuperValu Cooks Ingredients Salt & Pepper

Meal for 4

This is a great summer recipe for informal dining. If you wish you could thread these mini meatballs onto skewers & either bake in the oven or barbecue.

Preparation

Place the minced beef into a large mixing bowl. Add in the tomato ketchup, the spice mix and all the other ingredients (egg, flour, breadcrumbs, chilli powder) and mix well until combined.

Mould the mixture into small meatballs, approximately about 1 tablespoon each, using a little plain flour to assist you.

Arrange the meatballs onto a flat baking tray and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes until they are completely cooked.

Yoghurt & Cucumber Relish

Mix together all the ingredients in a small bowl.

Pop in the fridge and chill until required.

Rice

Cook the rice according to the packet instructions.

Mix in 25g butter with some seasoning and serve immediately.

Over the past few months Ive been enjoying working alot with Ross and David from Food & Wine Magazine creating the new look for a very new and exciting magazine.

We did a a cake shoot for Easter with Geraldine from Cake My Day which graced the front cover. Much to my happyness it was followed by a letter to the editor. Its a big honour to receive such lovely comments from Aine, in Antrim. But its not just me that makes an image. Its us all as a team, painstaking looking at every little factor to make sure that it works as an image, but also as artwork to make all you guys pick it up and of course buy it.

Well done guys, you all me me look good..lol...
but its more praise for you's, more than me.

Harry.

Happy St Patricks all

Happy Friday All

Check out the RTE Guide this week, its got loads good food ideas in a free magazine from Donal Skehan, Domni Kemp, Catherine Fulvio, Derry Clarke and of course Kevin Dundon, pictured across with his take on Salad Nicoise. The grilled Tuna which we got in Lawlors, upper Rathmines, was so fresh it was still moving on the plate.

Also when you are browsing through the lovely recepies, take not of their lovely sponser, Erin soups. We worked on these lifestyle images with them a few months back. The football image, looking like a nice March day was actually start of January, and we were waiting till the snow went. The field was supplied by Alsaa Gym, beside the airport. So get out to your local newsagent, get the RTE Guide and start cooking. Happy weekend all. Harry.

"Spoons"
An Image from Thursday afternoon,
Harry.
Hi All,

Ive been a bad blogger over the past month. Its been busy here at the studioand im shooting a lot of food, and some other interesting things too, as always. This is an image i took for Brennans, the ultimate Chicken & Stuffing Sambo. With the help of the lovely Sally Dunne, we made a humble sandwich into a mouthwatering, easy to make meal. Get more details by logging on the web address below. Try it and tell us what you think. My fav was the classic BLT with San Marzano plums. Good can be amazing.

Frosty beginnings of 2011
Welcome back all. The end of last and beginning of this year have been a bit on the chilled side, but despite the hardship, it was beautiful. It froze out the bugs and pests too, so i recon the coming spring will be better and happier for us all.
Happy New Year
